Über diesen Titel
An instant New York Times bestseller!
Love and duty collide in this richly imagined young adult debut about a witch whose dark powers put her at the center of a brewing war between the only family she’s ever known and the enemy who makes her question everything. Featuring a brand-new short story and character art!
Monster. Butcher. Bloodwinn.
Ranka is tired of death. All she wants is to be left alone, living out her days in Witchik’s wild north with the coven that raised her, attempting to forget the horrors of her past. But when she is named Bloodwinn, the next treaty bride to the human kingdom of Isodal, her coven sends her south with a single directive: kill him. Easy enough, for a blood-witch whose magic compels her to kill.
Except the prince is gentle, kind, and terrified of her. He doesn’t want to marry Ranka; he doesn’t want to be king at all. And it’s his sister—the wickedly smart, infuriatingly beautiful Princess Aramis—who seems to be the real threat.
But when witches start turning up dead, murdered by a mysterious, magical plague, Aramis makes Ranka an offer: help her develop a cure, and in return, she’ll help Ranka learn to contain her deadly magic. As the coup draws nearer and the plague spreads, Ranka is forced to question everything she thought she knew about her power, her past, and who she’s meant to fight for. Soon, she will have to decide between the coven that raised her and the princess who sees beyond the monster they shaped her to be.
But as the bodies pile up, a monster may be exactly what they need.

A strong standalone YA fantasy!
This story follows the stubborn blood witch Wronka, who is living in the cold north with her clan. Being a blood witch means being a fantastic cruel fighter but also needing the kill, every few weeks and then days and it's like a drug that will kill you in your late 20s at best.
Blood witches are rare. And Wronka is the chosen bloodwrin to marry the prince and bare an heir to honor the treaty between witches and humans. She has no intention to marry, not a prince and not someone who forces her. But when she has no other choice than to go to the capital, she meets the boy she has so far just heard rumors about and his beautiful fierce sister.
This book is about siblings, friendship and family, lost ones and found ones. About pride and goals and duty and revenge. It's written in beautiful pictures and deep emotions.
Witchcraft and science meet and collide. As do the witches and humans and the witch girl and her princess.
I could never predict the outcome of what came around the corner. The fate turns and twists and the characters make choices for the good or the doom. There are cozy moments followed by very dangerous situations and life threatening fights. And you really grow on the heart team of characters and hope they can make it.
Percy is maybe my favorite, the bratty embassador from overseas has stolen my heart with is funny retorts and his loyalty.
It's a standalone book. No need to wait for a second part, so you can start jumping on the story immediately and I highly recommend doing that.
