The true reason so many of us dismiss the Bible is just so: we really don't have the fortitude (spiritually, mentally or physically) to do the things we surely would do if we made the commitment to live the way the Bible says we ought.
Western Religion tells us that the consequences of failure (the Lake that burns with fire and sulfur) are serious enough for us to try to live the Bible anyway...
...the one problem (among many) with that approach is that our pride won't allow us to wallow in our failures; we'll eventually give up on religion and bury our heads in the sand of materialism, nihilism, existentialism and hedonism for the rest of our lives, terrorized in our hearts by the eternity that waits for us.
The Gospel (the REAL Gospel of Jesus Christ) offers Something exponentially better and more exciting than religion...Something so simple, so pure and so wonderful that even those who claim to believe the Gospel still wrestle with the thought that It might be too good to be true!
