Taylor Caldwell managed to touch me deeply with the compendium of human suffering. Even though it's pretty obvious who hides behind the curtain, and no moral advice is given at any time, to me each story, or maybe rather confession, helped me much in becoming more accepting of my own perceived hardships. Quite a feat.
