When Polly invites classmate Lucy over, they discover a toy dog. Polly and her best friend, Rex, another ghost dog, become determined to learn about the ghost dog in the toy. When they finally wake him up, they learn that he lived during WWII and was left behind by his owners when they returned to the city with their father after being sent to the countryside to avoid the bombings.
