Badly written book
Spoiler alert!
If you read the last few books the author published, then you know exactly what will happen in this one. The only difference is, that this one is packed with even more cliches than the others. Basically it's a story about an absolutely heroic American supersoldier. He is superintelligent, athletic, morally impeccable and more. The same goes for the American physicist he falls in love with. And of course they have the best sex you could imagine and feel the most love one could ever feel. Then there is some kind of supervillain. In that case it's the Chinese and the NAZI's. There are so many exaggerations and cliches that the author should be embarrassed for writing this book. It only gets two stars because it's well narrated. Except for the German he was trying to speak. That what quite bad. Other than that it's not worth reading the time.
In summary it's too full of superlatives. The good guys in this story, are described as the best, the most intelligent, the most heroic, the most moral persons you could imagine. Of course they are fighting the most evil person there ever lived: Adolf Hitler. All this makes the story absolutely ridiculous and should make Richards feel ashamed of writing this piece of uninspired ....

Very similar to his other works
As I already mentioned in other reviews of Douglas E. Richards works, they tend to be all from the same boiler plate. We have the surprisingly intelligent US special soldier, the pretty and intelligent girl that falls in love with him and the megalomaniac that is their advisory. Besides doing the same thing over and over again I liked in his other books the well researched science and the Gedankenexperimente regarding future technologies.

In this book there was nothing new, except an all mighty alien artefact (boring) and all the old stuff from his other books. Beside that I was annoyed by the depiction of the Nazis. Sure, what happened in the third Reich was despicable, but I don't believe that all SS soldiers where selected because they are psychopaths as suggested multiple times. Also the scene (which Douglas said in the after word he spend very much time with) where our protagonist discussed killing hitler was weird. A pacifist that was disgusted by the idea to kill enemy soldiers in battle was quasi aroused be the idea of killing Hitler, not so he can't do more harm, but out of pure punishment.
