Grieving the loss of her sister, Carrie hopes time at her great-aunt Maud’s cottage, by the shimmering loch where they spent childhood summers, will ease her pain.
A chance meeting with Rory McRae, a former Navy officer turned chef, brings unexpected comfort when she starts working for him. Though distant at first, his warmth and passion for his farm-to-table restaurant begin to lift Carrie’s spirits.
But then she discovers a diary her aunt Maud kept as a young woman after World War Two. The faded sepia photograph of a baby boy tucked into the back reveals a heartbreaking secret about her family she can scarcely believe. Opening up to Rory, could the discovery of a long-lost relative finally heal the loneliness that has been plaguing Carrie’s heart? Or will the secrets the diary unravels destroy her hope for a new future in Loch Cameron?
Get ready to fall in love with the Scottish Highlands in this stunning, heartbreaking and uplifting read for fans of Susanne O’Leary, Debbie Macomber and Pamela Kelley.
Kennedy Kerr, a USA Today Bestselling author, adores weaving small-town mysteries into her heartwarming romances, inspired by her love for Scottish lochs, beaches, and comforting homemade food.
