Double standards is sth I genuinely detest, and unfortunately this book was packed with it. As an ex-muslim Iranian, who considers himself a cosmopolitan, I simply got fed up with the one-sided narrative which calls the US-officers arrested on a boat trespassing the international borders "hostages", yet (at least so far as I listened to it) did not even mention the iranian airbus shot down with over 300 casualties by the US-navy, in my opinion failing to give a fair account of the matter at hand.

Personally I would have preferred at least a closer look on the history of Iran's dealings with the West, trying to understand the source of the enmity, which the iranian population generally, and understandably, holds agains the western civilization.

Denouncing values like human rights on the basis of the western countries not always complying with them, though they boast them as their values, is in turn the biggest fault of the fanatics holding the body of the regime.

I am myself watching the developements on the matter while biting my nails and hope for a peaceful way out, as hard as the iranians and americans may be making it to achieve. And understanding the other side is the first step, to which this book unfortunately does not contribute.
