Großartig!

Das ist wieder so ein Buch, dass ich irgendwann gekauft habe, ein paar Seiten gelesen und dann wieder weggelegt habe. Ich wusste nicht mehr warum. Also habe ich wieder angefangen zu lesen. Die Geschichte von Jane Yellowrock fängt ok an. Es schien mir nicht wirklich etwas Besonderes zu sein.


Aber die Spannung hat nach und nach zugenommen. Ihr wisst ja, dass ich auf starke Hauptfiguren stehe. Jane scheint eine starke Hauptfigur zu sein. Sie kann käpfen, mit Messer umgehen und setz


Jedoch ging es mir im Buch zu sehr um Lust oder Anziehungskraft zwischen Jane und andere Typen. Ich mochte die anderen Charaktere überhaupt nicht. Die waren mir richtig unsympathisch und die Autorin wollte einen diese unsympathische Art auch noch schmackhaft verkaufen. ne, ne, ne, so nicht.


Jane scheint auch immer zu verblöden, sobald ein gutaussehender Typ vor ihre steht. Oder Sie fühlt sich anscheinend zu gutaussehende Typen angezogen, egal, ob diese im Innern gut oder schlecht sind.

Fazit:
Zuerst habe ich 4 Sterne gegeben. Aber nach ein paar Tagen muss ich diese 4 Sterne auf 3 Sterne reduzieren. Einfach, weil mich die Geschichte etwas aufgeregt hat. Besser gesagt die Charaktere. Nach Band 2 Habe ich aufgehört zu lesen, weil es immer schlimmer wurde. Wer also nach Büchern wie die Mercy Thompson Reihe such, sollte weiter suchen.

This is another book that I bought at some point, read a few pages and then put it away again. I couldn't remember why. So I started reading again. The story of Jane Yellowrock starts out okay. It didn't really seem that special to me.


But little by little the tension started to build. You know how I like strong leading characters. Jane seems like a strong leading lady. She can fight, handle knives and use her brains sometimes.


But in the book she was too much concerned with lust or attraction between Jane and other guys. I did not like the other characters at all. I really didn't like them and the author wanted to make this unpleasant character palatable. No, no, no, not like that.


Jane seems to become stupid every time a good-looking guy stands in front of her. Or she seems to be attracted to good-looking guys, no matter if they are good or bad on the inside.

Bottom line:
First, I gave it four stars. But after a few days I had to reduce those 4 stars to 3 stars. Simply because I got a little excited about the story. Or rather the characters. After volume 2 I stopped reading because it got worse and worse. So if you're looking for books like the Mercy Thompson series, keep looking.

I am a big fan of Kate Daniels and Merci Thompson so if you don't know them I highly recommend their series. Jane Yellowrock is a simular kicking-ass female lead character. Jane kills vampire rogues for a living and is not shy, the beastsoul that shares her body is a fighter.

The story is a good written detective story and Jane slowly discoveres more about the rogue vampire and her own kind and past that she has mostly forgotten. Sometimes she's on the wrong track, but that's life. I like that she sometimes just gets bits and pieces and that there is more to be discovered about herself in the next books.

The only aspect I didn't like is that EVERY male character is described as attractive!? She likes his nose, or his legs, or his whatever. Are there no unattractive men to her? But I get along with that because she gives them funny nicknames and doesn't make it easy for the men to convince her.

I love the chapter headlines of this book and that the audiochapters are as long as the chapters. So you can easily find where you went to sleep and don't have to scroll clueless trough numbered 999 chapters of 3 minutes like other audiobooks make me often do.

The reader is amazing. She keeps to the pronouncing of names, and when the story gets faster she keeps reading steady and but thrilling and cares that her listener can follow her along.

I much prefer a fast paced story. This wasn't it. like the character but it didn't hit the spot. the times one had to listen how she made a cup of tea or change into beast got boring. but that maybe just me.
the Performance was fantastic. will be looking out for Khristine Hvam a lot more. she really made this worth listening too.
