Born and raised as the property of Titan's great houses, the Daughters of Light are more than mere slaves to their masters. When bonded to the lord of a great house, their extraordinary powers can be accessed for the use of their husbands to make them stronger rulers and increase their dominion. Raven was born to be a slave, but she questions why it should be so...even as she repeatedly dreams of a man she has never met who will come to sweep her away from the life of misery and bondage that awaits her. As the king waits for imminent death to take him, the leaders of the great houses prepare for a war to seize the throne. Eliam's prophetess grows old and her power wanes. Her dragon companion worries that she may soon succumb to the machinations of the Malkind spirits and their wand wielding royal followers who seek to destroy the followers of Eliam before His prophecies can be fulfilled and the Malkind overthrown. Will Eliam bring her successor in time, or has the creator of the world really been defeated as the Malkind teach?
