Anna Elliot is stuck in the past. No one can compare to Rick Wentworth, the man she was persuaded to give up. Meanwhile, Rick's moved on - and up. He's got a successful career and a carefully controlled love life where his heart doesn't get a look in. When they meet again, can she persuade him that their lost love is worth a second chance?

Too Long and too fixed on the original Austen version
The author is not successful in making a believable 2000 version of Persuasion. (The Emma-book was much more convincing!) Many of the characters seem to be so much out of place and the inner turmoil of Anna and Rick doesn't seem real, there seems to be no reason for them not to follow their hearts much earlier in the book, just as the very short romance 10 years prior seems much too short lived to be the reason for this decade long misery. It all doesn't fit, the author should have freed herself more from the original.
The speaker reads much too high pitched and her different voices appear to ridiculous and comic. I couldn't enjoy the dramatic story.
