Agapaeros “Perry” is a merman living a tranquil life in the Endless Ocean on the planet Entitya, with his mermaid mother Mendina and his merman father Eros.

Alas, that peace is shattered when his mother and father lay down to sleep and never wake up. This sudden loss sends a shockwave through the world that even the celestial gods of Entitya feel.

One day, swimming in a haze of grief and memories, Perry comes upon a wounded whale. Using what his mother taught him, he helps and heals the young whale with his magic. But Perry becomes puzzled by the weapons he pulls out of the great, gentle giant. When Mendina’s father, Perry’s grandfather the God of Light Susegi comes to comfort him, Perry begs for something to do besides languish in grief, somewhere to go that is not the Southern Kingdom of the Merfolk called Prong Palace, where he was raised and loved. Susegi, with his gift of foresight, suggests Perry visit the Northern Sea Kingdom of the Silkies.

There, the young merman will try to find out who was hunting his new whale friend. Perry himself will make new friends and see old friends his parents used to know. Agapaeros will go through a journey of sorrow, grief, and fear when a mysterious plague falls upon the Southern Kingdom of the Merfolk while he is away north. Now, with the help of his new Silkie friends and a sei whale, Perry will learn how to say goodbye to those he has loved most, while trying to save the Merfolk Kingdom from this deadly and heartbreaking plague preying on the most innocent of all.
