Über diesen Titel

It's 1942 and talented young artist Emily Torrance is brutally murdered. Seventy-five years later, Jim Mercer, a reporter for the LA Times, covers a J. Paul Getty Museum showing of Emily's work and is smitten by her self-portrait. Eventually becoming obsessed with the slain artist, Mercer investigates her murder and discovers something the cops of 1942 missed: evidence of Emily's killer, but more - proof of time travel. Mercer will leap back through time to 1942 to save Emily Torrance, if she can be saved, because he's found proof his future self has already time-travelled.

The story kept me entertained while I was listening, but as soon as I stopped I didn’t really care about continuing it. For a long time I didn’t know what put me off the story. I mean - I love time travel stories. I enjoy romance. So what?
1. I guess for me as a female reader, the male point of view didn’t come across as authentic. Not that I don’t believe men as being able to be besotted. But it was too much. Therefore I would have preferred the „raving about Emily“ stretches to be less frequent and shorter.
2. Most was pretty predictable. Ok there was an unexpected twist at the end, but it felt a bit contrived since the clues given were so obfuscated that there wasn’t enough to go on to develop your own theories. (Except my theory that they were added retrospectively.)

Anyway. Now I am finished I no longer care.

The perspective didn’t do it for me
