Über diesen Titel

When Jackson, Elliot, River, and Thomas were hired to protect a socialite, they weren't expecting to form a connection with her.

Lily Montgomery has become more than a job to them; they need her as much as she needs them. But they'd been distracted, too intoxicated by her to notice the real threat had been right under their noses the entire time.

Until they find Lily beaten and unconscious.

Guilt consumes the four formidable men, each of them blaming themselves. They've all been through indescribable horrors, but nothing could've prepared them for the sight of Lily's broken, lifeless body. And they're more determined than ever to protect her.

Once she's hidden away at the safe house, they work to track down the threat and help Lily battle haunting memories of abuse.

But the danger is more complex than they imagined.

As their relationships continue to shift, each of them feels a deep bond with her, and they convince Lily to open her heart to the possibility of being with all of them. But, with love and danger entwined, can they all find the strength to overcome the darkness and emerge stronger together?

This duet is one of the very few why choose romances that actually delivers a real plot instead of being only smut—and that alone deserves appreciation.

I was completely invested from the very beginning of book one, and since it ended on a painful cliffhanger, continuing with book two was a no-brainer. That said… I waited a whole year to do so because I was holding out for the audiobook release. And yes, as you know, I’m an audiobook addict 🎧😌

Book 1 – Ours to Protect

What really stood out to me was how distinct and well-developed the MMCs were. Each of them brings a completely different dynamic to Lily:

Jax – the stoic, level-headed, skeptical leader
Elliot – the tech nerd
River – hot-headed, overly protective, shameless flirt
Tommy – the quiet, traumatized golden retriever

All four are dealing with past trauma and share a beautiful band-of-brothers bond that felt genuine and emotionally grounded.

Book one focuses heavily on character introductions, tension, suspense, and secrets, slowly unraveling why these four men were hired to protect Lily. It’s a true slow burn, incredibly gripping, and reminded me a lot of Saved by Two (book one).

⚠️ Small spoiler thought:
One thing I genuinely struggled with was understanding how and why these four highly trained men failed to protect Lily—twice. The second failure, especially, had massive consequences and led to a brutal cliffhanger. It pulled me out of the story a bit because… there were four of them. How did this happen again?

That said, the spice is very spicy, and the MM dynamic between Elliot and River adds an entirely new layer that I absolutely loved.

Book 2 – Ours to Keep

Book two opens with intense guilt—all four men are beating themselves up over what happened to Lily under their watch. The tension at the beginning is heavy, emotional, and raw as we wait for Lily to heal. That being said, for me, the healing process dragged a little too long, and the overall pacing felt slower than book one. However, this installment leans more into character and relationship development, which will work really well for readers who love emotional depth.

We finally see: Secrets revealed, Mysteries solved, The dynamic between all five characters

Unfortunately, we only get that full group dynamic once—and right at the end, which was a bit of a bummer. I really wanted more time seeing how all five of them function together.

One of the most beautiful arcs in this book is Tommy’s. Watching him slowly open up and begin healing was incredibly rewarding and heartfelt.

We also get: Cameos from Noah, Caleb, and Jessica (Saved by Two)

A teaser for the next book, Beauty in Betrayal, featuring Avery (Lily’s best friend) and Mason (Jessica’s brother) 👀

Narration 🎧

🎧 The narration was excellent.

Luke William Bromley did an outstanding job bringing all four MMCs to life—each voice was distinct and recognizable. His portrayal of Tommy, especially with the Yorkshire accent, was my absolute favorite. Francesca Peregrine was great as Lily and held her own beautifully alongside Luke.

Final Thoughts

This duet delivers a solid mix of suspense, mystery, tension, and why-choose steam. The damsel in distress trope was a bit too heavy for my taste—Lily gets hurt a lot, and some sections felt overly drawn out—but overall, it was an engaging and emotional ride.
