The protagonist is being described as a unique detective, which she is not. No special talent or anything. Basically just a profound need to be away from her young daughter, which she considers her way of bing emancipated.
But the plot itself is grand. Not exciting or anything. Just grand. If you have no great expectations.
Aoife McMahon is a brilliant narrator, so finishing the book rather than returning it was okay.
