Über diesen Titel
Listeners of Sophie Turner's more chaste Constant Love series should be aware that this novel contains decidedly adult content at certain parts of the story.
One night, to decide his entire life's happiness.
Chastened by Charles Bingley following Mr. Bennet's untimely death, Fitzwilliam Darcy determines he will offer marriage to Elizabeth Bennet, but she marries another.
Years later, a widowed Elizabeth is mistress of Longbourn, and has vowed she will never marry again. A house party at Netherfield brings them back together, but Darcy will have to win more than her heart if he is to have any chance at making her mistress of Pemberley.
©2017 Sophie Turner (P)2017 Sophie TurnerIt helps that the telling starts except for the prologue at the End of her official mourning time.
It soon became one of my favourites.
E. is traumatised and D. Is so sweet and patient with her and so much in love, that she can’t help but trust him with time.
They are honest with each other and both are making a great Character developement.
The story is sweet, hard and realistic, because E.’s troubles in her marriage were by no means rare in that time and thinking of a situation like that for E. at Longborn is hard but remembers how it must have been for women at that time and is for some women still in other cultures or with bad husbands.
I feel chilled only thinking about something like that.
Her fears are real and well founded and she has to overcome them to be happy. I do not believe she would have overcome them nearly as good, or ever if he hadn’t come along again.
Sex is a big part of her fears and is important in this story, but I do not think that it is too much and it was important for the development for the story and characters.
I do genuinely not like variations where the social norms of that time are being ignored in favour of steaming love scenes, especially before marriage, but this fits. It is very important for the story.
And I find her resolution very intelligent, and courageous for that time.
His fears are understandable as well. He panicked the poor man.
The development of Kitty and Mary was also fitting for that setting. I did not have expectations for Mrs. Bennet ( opportunist) but K. And M. were nearly as traumatised as E. and their actions understandable.
Collins well, he should have died sooner the Bas***t.
Nice setting for a P&P variation. Good written.
No superfluous chapters, didn’t need to skip.
Well narrated, except for some places where she performed a little dull in relation to the situation at hand, but that is hair splitting and not really worth mentioning.
All in all five stars.
I will listen to it again soon😉
Very sweet, honest and strong heroes
