W.P. Kinsella
Magic Time is vintage Kinsella. It is a novel of hope and promise and baseball that becomes humorous, enchanting fiction.

Sweet clover, cut grass, cornfields, baseball, pretty girls, and the yearning in a young man’s heart…this is W. P. Kinsella territory. In Magic Time, Kinsella, best known for his novel Shoeless Joe (adapted into the movie Field of Dreams), tells the story of Mike Houle, a young second baseman with professional aspirations, playing semi-pro ball in the peaceful but not-quite-perfect small town of Grand Mound, Iowa. The storytelling is classic: vivid metaphors, plenty of humor, and occasional digressions into the mysterious realms of love and fear. Veteran performer Brian Holsopple’s voice is clear and engaging with a touch of gravel. The listener may feel like he’s sitting on a front porch at sunset listening to a fond memory of a life-changing summer.
