Über diesen Titel

I'm no angel . . . or am I?

Nameless. Forgotten. Lost on Earth for centuries with a disembodied voice as my only friend. Protecting the vulnerable without any help from above. No one to explain the rules. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

So when High Angelus Gavriel finds me killing a very bad man, can he really blame me? Before I can explain, he drags me back to the place he swears is my home: Sanctuary.

Halfway between Earth and the Celestial Realm, Sanctuary would be paradise if it weren't for the daily decontamination showers, hours spent carving the murder-marks off my skin to discover my true name, and thousands of prim and proper angels who tell me I stink. Literally.

I'm the dirtiest Protector they've ever seen, but I can't stop fantasizing about Gavriel and his best friends. Those sexy-as-sin High Angeli don't know what to do with me, but I have a few ideas. I just need to find out my name so they'll see who I am deep down . . . even if I have a feeling I'm no angel.

But what happens when my name is revealed, and it's worse than anyone ever imagined?

Contains mature themes.

This one is really difficult to rate.

The story itsself is very good. As I knew before buying the audiobooks, cause I have read the series twice already and always know that I'm in for a treat with a Merri Bright book.
The world built is unique, which is rare for a RH fantasy series these days. The characters are lovely, the story is breathtaking and heartbreaking and often "laugh-out-loud" or "snort-coffee-through-your-nose" kind of funny.
So I was happy to discover, that it has a matching audiobook now.

That only lasted until I got to the first part of the male narrator.
The female voice is quite good and a perfect fit for the FMC. She is a tiny bit slow reading the smutty parts of the story to make it more sensual I think, and I fell asleep there once, but her parts are enjoyable.
The male narrator, sadly, is one of the worst I have ever encountered. The voice itsself is nice, but doesn't change at all. No matter which MMC he reads, if it's an action scene or an emotional inner monolog - the voice of the narrator always stays the same. And he is really, really bad with pauses, as in : he doesn't make them at all. He can't really get the male characters across, and listening to his parts is as emotional and exciting as reading a grocery list.
So I'm always dreading his parts.

I will finish this series, just because I hate to leave things unfinished and because I love the story.

BUT I do not recommend listening to the audiobooks, if you haven't read the books already. It will ruin the story for you and that would be so sad.

the story is great - the male narrator is awful
