In the dark, oxygen-rich depths of Lake Okeechobee, everyone has a job. The bass hunt. The gators rule. And Vince? Vince just tries to stay invisible.
Vince is a small fish with a big problem: the "Upstairs" has arrived. To the humans on their glittering bass boats, it’s just a high-stakes fishing tournament. But to the creatures below the "Silver Skin," it’s an all-out invasion of neon lures, humming lines, and "Giant Lasers" that can pull a fish into the sky and never let them go.
A Tactical World Under the Surface Vince lives by the "Lanes and Gaps," a secret system of navigation that keeps the small from being swallowed by the large. But when the tournament turns the lake into a chaotic war zone, the old rules start to break. The "Quiet Places" are disappearing, and a prehistoric threat known as "The Curve" is waking up in the deep.
A Team of Unlikely Heroes To save their home, Vince must coordinate a group of "Secret Guardians" that no one in their right mind would trust:
Pip: A high-energy Pumpkinseed with a "Lava Rules" philosophy and a vocabulary he definitely overheard from the humans.
- Ledge: A grumpy, silent bird who acts as the lake’s unofficial "Janitor," pluckily fixing the mess the humans leave behind—one hook at a time.
- Bellow: A massive, flatulent Bass who believes that "if you let things be messy, they sort themselves out".
- Franks & Beans: Two manic "Psycho Bass" who treat every neon lure like a personal insult and every movement like an "Eleven-Thirty Threat"The Stakes are Rising. As the tournament reaches its peak, the water tightens. Vince realized that "Stealth is a state of mind," but when the "Big One" comes down, mindsets won’t be enough. He’ll have to lead his team through a gauntlet of "Shiny Ropes" and "Psychological Warfare" to prove that the lake belongs to the ones who stay—not the ones with the loudest motors.
