Before going into details, I should mention that I have Japanese friends and traveled the country several times. I really do not like manga, though, and this novel unfortunately reminds me of big-eyed people, roughly animated in ever-repeating background loops of the 80s -- right from the first minute. I tried hard to love it, this being my first Asian SF novel and all, and I do think that it is written well by Keith Yatsuhashi. Also, and as always, Laurence Bouvard does a great job with her performance. But still, I do not see myself finishing this book due to the strong resemblance to cartoons I never liked.
