Das geht an die Nieren, geht ans Herz, und man lernt viel über eine Erbkrankheit, von der die meisten noch nie gehört haben. Wie in ihrem Bestseller STILL ALICE nimmt Lisa Genova die Fakten ernst, beschönigt nichts und bricht ihren Lesern damit das Herz. Aber nicht, ohne auch Noten von Respekt, Kraft und positivem Denken trotz allen Elends mit in die Geschichte zu bringen.

Wer mit solchen ‘Krankheitsbüchern’ nichts am Hut hat – bitte weggehen und etwas anderes machen.

Skipp Sudduth ist ganz der kerlige, bodenständige Bostoner Straßencop, nach dem er sich anhören soll. Eine Stimme von nebenan, mit einer toughen Schale und dem Herz am rechten Fleck. Mit dem Verlauf der Geschichte wird Sudduth’s Stimme eine kleine Nuance weicher, nachdenklicher, mitgenommener. So passt das, und auch bei Katy und den anderen Frauenfiguren leistet dieser Sprecher einen glaubhaften Job. Perfektes Casting.
