Über diesen Titel
At the heart of the Republican MAGA right is the rhetoric about immigration. In this historical and spiritual examination of immigration, historian Keith Pruitt looks at the history of immigration in the United States. But Pruitt goes further by examining the spiritual teachings in Jewish/Christian scriptures regarding our relationship with others especially those the Bible refers to as "strangers" in the land.
The obvious implication is that those who seem the most vocal about getting rid of foreign immigrants, illegal aliens, or however one wishes to designate these humans who have come to our shores, are also those who seem more bent on enforcing their view of religion. Yet, as Pruitt points out, these anti immigrant rants are in clear opposition to plain biblical teachings.
In the third chapter, the author then uses a series of historic quotes to show a representation of beliefs on immigrant throughout American history. This book coupled with his prior two books on Christian Nationalism and American Political Parties offer a trifecta in American history studies.
