Also, 'Herc' von Phoenicia Rogerson hatte ich mir echt spannend vorgestellt! Die Idee, Herkules' Geschichte durch die Augen seiner Eltern, Gefährten und anderen Sidekicks zu erzählen, klang für mich nach einer frischen Brise in der alten Mythologie. Aber Junge, Junge, das war wie ein Labyrinth ohne Faden! Mit so vielen Charakteren aus der griechischen Mythologie habe ich mich gefühlt wie beim ultimativen Götter-Who's-Who ohne Spickzettel. Ich muss zugeben, ohne das Glossar am Ende wäre ich vollkommen aufgeschmissen gewesen. Und selbst mit, war's eine Herausforderung, die ganze Sippschaft auseinanderzuhalten. Ich mein, wenn sogar die Autorin Iphitos und Iphikles durcheinanderbringt, wie soll ich da mithalten? Ehrlich gesagt, ich glaube, das Buch ist eher was für Hardcore-Mythologie-Fans, die schon alles wissen und sehen wollen, wie's auch anders gehen könnte. Für mich, der ich nur mit den Basics vertraut bin, war es mehr ein Rätselraten als ein Lesevergnügen. Und dann die Sprache! Ich mag's ja, wenn's lebhaft zugeht, aber das war mir zu effekthascherisch. Statt episch fühlte es sich für mich eher nach einem Versuch an, mit Gewalt modern und schrill zu sein. Kurz gesagt, 'Herc' ist sicherlich für einige ein Fest, aber ich lasse es wohl bei diesem einen Mal bleiben. Auf Wiedersehen, Herkules, und nimm deine unzähligen Freunde gleich mit!
