Fake spirit medium Gretchen Acorn is happy to help when her wealthiest client hires her to look into the unexplained phenomena preventing the sale of her bridge partner's struggling goat farm. Gretchen may be a complete fraud, but she's a beneficent one. Of course, it turns out said bridge partner isn't quite who Gretchen imagined - Charlie Waybill is young, hot as hell, and extremely unconvinced by Gretchen. Except, to her surprise, Gretchen finds herself face-to-face with Everett: the very real, very chatty ghost that's been wreaking havoc. And he wants her to help ensure Charlie avoids the same family curse that's had Everett haunting Gilded Creek Farm since the 1920s.

Now, Gretchen has one month to convince Charlie of the dangers that will befall him should he sell up. Unfortunately, hard work and honesty seem to be the best way to win over the stubborn farmer - not exactly Gretchen's strengths. She has to try though, because trust isn't the only thing growing between them. To save the goat farm, its resident phantom, and the man she's beginning to love, Gretchen will need to pull off the greatest con of her life: being fully, genuinely, messily herself.

It was a DELIGHT to watch morality-zigzagging Gretchen get herself into situations that - keep in mind that they would make anyone else sweat - excite her in a wily, hilarious way. She and Charlie have sizzling opposites-attract chemistry, and her interactions with the resident lovable himbo ghost are laugh-out-loud funny. Thanks to Adler's signature sharp wit, I had such a good time with the two devils on Gretchen's shoulders that I almost rooted for them to stick around
I loved Happy Medium! Gretchen is such a great character, warm and witty and complex. I loved seeing her character grow and mature, and her chemistry with Charlie was off the charts!
