Am relevantesten

I’ve read this book before. And thought of giving it a listen- another version. Still great- Apostol is a good writer. Shades of Didion and Naipaul.
But the narrator- empathic but incapable of pronouncing any Filipino (even Spanish) proper names. Place names and even simple first names (let’s not go to surnames)- butchered. It’s a pity. It’s odd as the story is set inThe Philippines and of course with Filipino characters (and the Filipino language is rather phonetic). Really odd.
