They plow with enormous horses, feed hundreds through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), and act as mentors for young farmers who often go on to start their own horse-centered operations. A glimpse into another world, I found this book endlessly fascinating. It describes farm life and all that comes with it very vividly. The reading voice does come across as a little detached, but if you give her grace for this, you see the love, thought and emotion behind the words.
I do recommend having an interest in food growing and/or farming, there is a lot of it!

Die beiden Bücher von Kristin Kimball sind meine absoluten Lieblingsbücher. Dieses neueste habe ich mir gleich am Erscheinungstag gekauft und ich finde es fast noch besser als das erste. Deshalb habe ich mir obendrauf noch das Hörbuch gegönnt - das ist leider eine Enttäuschung: Kristin Kimball liest ihr eigenes Buch auf eine komische und für mich unangenehme Art. Ich fand ihre Bücher so menschlich, warm und herzlich, sie liest dieses Buch aber mit einer irgendwie kalten, diszanzierten Stimme, so dass das fast ein bisschen arrogant wirkt. Vielleicht ist das aus Unsicherheit passiert, weil sie einfach keine professionelle Sprecherin ist. Egal warum, dieser Lesestil zieht das Besondere an der Geschichte ziemlich runter. Schade. Aber zum Glück kann ich die Bücher noch 100 Mal lesen, wenn ich Lust drauf habe...
