Domesticity and creativity wrestle in these hilariously skewed tales of postmodern family life.
"Farrant is a veteran practitioner of the gently satirical tale, and a sanguine, breezy tone suffuses these 12 linked dispatches from a fractious home front." (Quill & Quire

The frustrations of daily life take center stage in Canadian writer M. A. C. Farrant's sixth published effort, a collection of a dozen interlocking tales set on Vancouver Island. Flashes of dry wit and sharp insight brighten the tales of long-suffering in-laws, rusted cars, teenage parties, unreliable repairmen, and a temperamental husband. Veteran narrator Justine Eyre has a unique voice, both gravelly and tremulous, which is well-suited to the mood of the stories. Those who frequently grapple with the opposing tugs of domesticity and creativity, the personal and the familial, will find plenty to relate to here.
