This is the first book the ghostwriter has written, using the notes of VCA after her death. There are parts which show that Mr. Niederman was just beginning his ghostwriting, yes the poetic language of VCA is missing, and the beginning of the book is annoying but the last third is OMGAH HOLD ONTO YOUR HAT! Full on southern gothic melodrama! I couldn’t stop listening I had to know how all of the conflict will unfold! Candace Thaxton does a brilliant job again, voicing everyone amazingly! I am sad that the next books will not be narrated by her, but the other books are written from the POV of other characters. If you love the Casteel series, don’t let this book being ghostwritten keep you away!
