Witty, wise and beautifully retold. Alexander McCall Smith has managed to bring the characters of Ms Austins story into the 21st century and make it come alive for modern readers. At turns funny and thought provoking, his version of Emma is a joy to read.

Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Bitte versuche es in ein paar Minuten noch einmal.
This adaptation really takes the meandering on characterisations from 19th century novels to a next level. People literally do nothing and the plot is hardly changed except for cars and stock market.
And the worst: It's Emma with the romance taken out of it: no sparks, no great conversations, Georg hardly enters the stage. I really do wonder what the aim of this adaptation was.
