My main points are:
1. The main character Sam is really illogical sometimes: - She prefers to be afraid that her whole family has died in an attack and hopes that they come home instead of for example give them a phone call or some magical communication to find out if they are alive.
2. She has no spine regarding her "Love Interest" He clearly doesn't stick up for her or even stand by her in front of others. He doesn't respect her or shows affection for her. HE plays hot & cold and mistrusts her. He reproaches her for not behaving properly. Then she is angry with him for a second because of it and then sees his "Kissable Lips" and everything is okay for her again.
To sum it up: He is just not worth it and she should respect herself more than let him treat her like that.
3. The magical Counsil is portraied as the ones with power and they do absolutely NOTHING!!! There are several possibly world ending Events in the different books and they just hire a "freelancer" aka Sam to deal with it. The magical races do not have any leadership or coordinate in order to face those serious events. People die, they sand aside and they just blame somebody afterwarts without any evidence for her having caused any of it.
4. She works for the Counsil because she needs the money - Even though they do not belive her when she reports something to them and treat her badly and do not give her the complete information that she needs. She is angry about it and then goes back to trying to get into their good graces instead off trying to find other work. They are clearly not appreciating her and are utterly useless.
If they are this high & mighty Counsil then they should do things and act in a way that actually deserves respect. Have an investigating team & sholars, some guardians, make laws help & protect those who they are governing... They don't even inform their communities about the dangers they are in...
I could probably list more, but it's not worth it. I'm kind of happy that I got through the books & I should have stopped listening after the first or second.
