"Crime and Punishment" opens in 1860s St. Petersburg, where Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, an impoverished former student, has come psychologically unhinged. He wanders about the city, barely eats, and hatches a vague plan he wishes to "test" one afternoon. He goes to the apartment of an old pawnbroker, who lives with her sister Lizaveta, and pawns his father's watch. Upon leaving, he repeats to himself his intentions: he will murder the old crone and rob her.

I am not sure if Thomas Goodrich actually read this book or if they sampled his voice and then had a (very) old computer program read the test.
It sounds so horrible that it was impossible to listen and enjoy.
Book might be a masterpiece but listening to it was impossible for me.

The story is great. Good flow and great to create thought about poverty and the system we live in.
The narrator is a machine reader device. He transfers no emotions. Another narrator would be great for this great story.
