Der Zusatz "Tiefsee-Thriller" ist eher oberflächlich zu verstehen. Es gibt zwar in jedem Band Tauchszenen, aber lediglich in "Shark Lake" und "Chains of Gold" kommt man richtig auf seine Kosten.
Ben Gannon ist ein relativ normaler Protagonist, der nicht zum Superhelden wird und auch mal nur durch Glück am Leben bleibt. Die Handlung spielt an exotischen Orten voller Stereotypen, die Action ist (wenn sie denn mal in Gang kommt) durchaus fesselnd.
Alles in allem eher was für zwischendurch - doch eine Warnung muss hier ausgesprochen werden: Aus irgend einem Grund meint der Autor das nur sadistische Psychopathen gute Bösewichte abgeben. Hier werden in jedem Band Charaktere eingeführt, die eher in einen Thomas Harris-Roman passen würden.

The phrase "deep-sea thriller" is rather superficial. While there are diving scenes in every book, only "Shark Lake" and "Chains of Gold" really deliver.
Ben Gannon is a relatively normal protagonist who doesn't become a superhero and sometimes only survives by sheer luck. The stories take place in exotic locations full of stereotypes, and the action (when it gets going) is quite gripping.
All in all, more of a casual read—but a warning must be issued here: For some reason, the author believes that only sadistic psychopaths make good villains. Here, each volume introduces characters who would be more suited to a Thomas Harris novel..
