High heels changed her life... Carla changed her destiny...
Eighteen year old Connie Mills has limped badly since a childhood injury to her leg. But, when she tries on her first pair of high heels she is astonished that she can now walk without limping. This pivotal moment in her life will move her in a direction she could have never expected to go. For the better? For the worse? Time will tell.
Connie and her mother are living at the poverty level in McDowell County, West Virginia. When circumstances worsen for them financially, Connie has no idea what to do. With her father having passed away in a mining accident years before, it's just Connie and her mom against the world. When Connie meets twenty-two year old Carla Santibanez, things change quickly. Connie looks up to Carla, and the two quickly become soul level friends--in spite of Carla's occupation as a stripper.
