London, 1946. Gabriel Book is an erudite and unconventional London bookseller married to Trottie, the owner of the wallpaper shop next door. He is also a sleuth who uses the chaotic riches of his stock to crack the puzzling cases that come his way.

Mark Gatiss' is the perfect narrator for this. (I mean, he would be, obviously, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.) More, please!

These are somehow quiet, contemplative stories that evoke life in post-war London, built around original murder cases. People struggling to build a new life and make the best of it. Very nicely (it seems) adapted from the TV series created by Mark Gatiss and here read absolutely brilliantly by him. One could even listen to the end credits forever. I can’t wait to finally watch the series in Germany.

There are three stories in this book. From whatever I could follow, the stories are good. I could only listen to the first two and then I could not go any further. The speaker is good but the scenes jump from one scene to another without any pause or notification. It was very difficult to follow the storyline. I might buy a kindle edition of this book.
