The Portland Fire enter the offseason at 16-27, looking to rebuild around a core of Bridget Carleton, Emily Engstler, Jordan Harrison, and Carla Leite. After a gritty 90-82 overtime victory over the Golden State Valkyries, fans are asking if the team should pivot to JuJu Watkins in the 2027 draft or focus on internal growth. Gary and Kelly break down the roster battles, the impact of severe injuries to players like Holly Winterburn and Nyadiew Puoch, and the realistic path to 25-30 wins.

This episode analyzes the key performances from the final game, including Carleton's 26 points, Harrison's 10 assists, and Engstler's 11 rebounds. We discuss the necessity of retaining Engstler as the primary rim protector against elite centers like Nneka Ogwumike, who recently recorded a double-double against Portland. The hosts also evaluate Carla Leite's clutch three-point play in overtime as a sign of offensive maturity.

Key topics include the feasibility of trading for JuJu Watkins' rights, the depth chart implications of losing six players to injury, and strategic adjustments for spacing and shot selection. The discussion covers the 2027 WNBA draft lottery projections, the importance of adding outside shooting, and how the Fire can leverage their Western Conference Division standing to improve their playoff chances next season.

In this episode: JuJu Watkins & Roster Depth Crisis · Engstler Retention & Clutch Performances · Watkins Hypothetical & Lightning Round.
