20 years of musicaL Listening. This episode is a celebration and look back and what that first journal entry gave birth to. It is a reflection on what has changed and what is different about what I believe musicaListening to be and where I think it can take us.

If you are struggling to get where you want to be, if you are feeling block about being a musician and achieving that next level of achievement then I invite you to try this on. I invite you to consider it and try it out. Why? After 20 years there are many things that I believe more than ever. The 2 decades since I first wrote this down has only strengthened my resolve. Yes I have updated some of my opinions and come to the middle, a more "centrist" view as I say in the episode but on the whole I believe in musicaL Listening more than ever. I believe that for many of us wanting to play at a higher level, make music at a deeper level and become the musician we know is inside us, that music is the key. Not "music" in the philosophical existence way but music in the deeply personal and emotional way that drive us, that energizes us like rocket fuel and keeps us coming back to the practice room time and time again.

To see a picture of that entry where I first wrote down "musicaListening" on October 18th, 2006 you can check that out here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K9nA-Df33AwPjQbVKRQPtgYBY9iAivcC/view?usp=sharing

To see the youTube video I mention go here and check out the rest of the channel for some interviews and other videos on musicaListening. https://youtu.be/fvA6tzd7J1Q

Lastly while you are watching that video I would invite you to ponder one excerpt very carefully and deeply. Alexander Markov is one of the greatest violinist of our time, famous for playing the Paganini Caprice's, some of the most difficult music of our time. He is in the video saying "When I play more musically I am more technically accurate" If someone like him is saying this, why aren't the rest of us doing something about it?
