It’s an interesting thought. I've slowly moved to the idea that nature always balances out. Like, say today, potentially there are "too many people". And I don’t mean it in an overpopulation stance. I mean it in a way that current governments and companies have built society in a way where there is nearly no point having a child. People are too busy, things are too expensive, jobs are too demanding. So people naturally balance out and have fewer kids because society has shown we don't have enough jobs or money or time to risk raising a kid without ruining your life. The human race as a whole is balancing out the numbers naturally. So, say AI relationships become a relevant thing, the balance happens where people naturally have more relationships with something that doesn’t risk increasing the population size. Then, once the population drops naturally and gradually to a point the unconscious human nature deems acceptable, suddenly there will be "normal" relationships being the average type of relationship you see.
