When the widow's son becomes sick and dies, Elijah cries out to God in prayer. The LORD hears him, and the child is restored to life. The chapter reveals God's compassion and His power to provide, sustain, and restore.

Through this chapter, we see that faith often requires obedience when circumstances appear impossible. God's provision may come in unexpected ways, while His power over death points toward the greater hope of resurrection.
