You can't move to the next chapter of your life without tying up loose ends in the previous one.
True crime blogger Erica Hart's fresh start in Spencer turns deadly when a dark shadow darts across the mountain road, sending her SUV plunging into Deep Creek Lake. Deputy Chief Dusty O'Meara thinks it was a bear. Erica knows it was attempted murder.
When contractors discover the body of Erica's childhood friend, Konnor Langston, at the bottom of an abandoned swimming pool on Mac Faraday's son's new property, the case explodes into a full homicide investigation.
With Police Chief David O'Callaghan on paternity leave, it's Dusty's first major murder case in Spencer — and he's working under the long shadow of the legendary Mac Faraday. Complicating everything is Erica Hart, a sharp, relentless true crime blogger determined to find justice for her friend.
Dusty must match wits with Erica while trying to ignore how irresistible she is. Mac Faraday and even Gnarly, the town's canine mayor, are manageable. Erica? Not so much.
In this gripping police procedural mystery full of twists, humor, and heart, a new generation steps up as old secrets refuse to stay buried.
Perfect for fans of small town mysteries, cold case investigations, and detective murder stories.
