I really love novels which are set in Orkney or the Shetlands, so this audio book was on my wishlist for quite a while till I finally downloaded it, because there had only been one review - which was pretty positive - but somehow I wasn't sure.
When I started listening I was disappointed that the plot was set in the 19th century, at first, but I was captured by the development of the events in the story pretty soon, so I kept listening and I really enjoyed the story, for it was never boring and there were quite a few unexpected twists.
The reader has a really pleasant voice and it was fun listening to the passages in which she tried to hint that people had that broad Orkney accent - but don't worry, she just hinted at it!
It's not an audio book that'll blow you away, but it promises a few hours of really good entertainment, so I can recommend it without second thoughts!
