After having seen many people citing this book I expected something big. Something enlightening. Something that would lift my spirit during a long drive. None of it came true. The tone is maudlin, whiney, despiriting. I'm not sure whether it's more the authors or the speakers responsibility, probably both.

A rich swiss wife, void of any practical problems, despairs over the meaninglessness of her life in total security. Oh, wow. She brings in some traces of adventure, bemuses and berates it exceedingly and finally reaches a conclusion that anyone with a halfway clear mind had already had before starting to read/hear the book.

Big disappointment. Paolo Coelho, you can do (and have done) much better.

Is it the book or the speaker? Maudlin, whiney.

If the story was a bit more interesting it would be ok. But such a boring story in a combination with this really horrible accent and voice, I am really sorry, but it was the hardest book to keep on listening to, I tried a few times.
