Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.

Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.

After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.

I couldn’t really get into it at first but am happy I kept listening. This is the first book by St. Clair that I have read, and I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series and her other works. This is a great form of escapism I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a Persephone-Hades story/dynamic with a modern twist. The narrator did a brilliant job. I hope to hear her reading more books soon.

Die englische Stimme ist sehr angenehm. Die Geschichte ist ein Muss für jeden Fan von Griechischen Göttern. Es hat einige sehr lustige Szenen, aber auch die Gefühle der Prtotagonisten bleiben nicht auf der Strecke. Freue mich auf den nächsten Teil!

Smashing Narator! Other then that : This book was quite dissapointing. The FMC is annoying with little to no depth. If it wasn't for the spice I'ld have called it a YA Book. So, if you like these kind of books, by all means give it a go ... I might try the POV from Hades for the next one but I might also give up on the series entirely... the judges are still out.

Nicht sehr originell, aber schön ausgeführt. Erinnert stark an Sarah J. Maas Bücher, gefällt mir aber sogar besser. Auf jeden Fall eine gute Unterhaltung.

I expected this To be a classic enemies-To-lovers romance, however, this is the story of the worst nepo-kid ever (the daughter of a goddess), who is annoying and selfish and pretends to be caring about all the humans, when truly, she can’t even manage to leave a party with her best friend once and not abandoning her. Hades is being a complete green flag the whole time and behaves absolutely decent and in no way dark as dark
Romance would suggest. Still, Persephone keeps being a bitch and trusting the wrong people the whole time. Spice was good though;)

Love her story and his interpretation! I never knew about about the goddess of spring but her character is so interesting.

I would‘ve been bummed if I paid for this. The author seems to have a very limited vocabulary, the characters, except for Hades, are quite shallow and the female protagonist is whiny, naive and childish. The spicy scenes were quite good, eventhough the whole „Oh no, I‘m so innocent“ spiel got on my nerves after a bit.

Overall I did like the book. The storyline was really catchy which I really liked about it. The perspective was a bit confusing at first but I got into it pretty well. The spice wasn’t really good in my opinion but I think it’s just because I’m used to the spice from hunting Adeline… You can’t really compare these tropes but I missed the kinkiness and the vibe that other books are giving me… but ngl it was a good book nevertheless and I’m happy I read/listened to it
