The story line sounded very very interesting, especially since the author had based it (loosely) on the diary from her great-great-great grandmother who was Emma Ruth on this trek to Oregon. I found the details describing the hard life very educational. I was disappointed though as I did not like the author's style. It sounded abrupt, there was hardly any dialogue, and oftentimes I got lost in the story, not quite understanding what had just happened. The reader adapted her style to the author's, very slow. However, I made it and (finally) finished this audio book.Again, interesting story with historical background, but I did not like the style of the author.
