What harm can one small lie do?

Forced to give up her career as a dentist, and still unemployed a year later, Valentina Knight has finally run out of options. Am relevantesten
at first it was hard to follow the storyline and it's plausibility but it got more and more exciting. The end felt a bit rushed though.
I also liked the speakers change of voices, making it easy to follow dialogues. However, her accentuation at the end of the sentences "Val said, Gavin asked,..." was extremely annoying.

Honestly I've no knowledge about the employment situation and circumstances in the US, But it's hard to believe that a trained dentist can no longer receive compensation or adequate work after an occupational accident.
And what is so bad about the fact that she had no recommendation from Oliver is just as incomprehensible as the actions of the police and the lawyers in the story. The main protagonist's motivation and fears are nonsensical and the whole story is harebrained.
