Children’s author, Cornita Cole found her passion during a time of personal upheaval and crisis. When her adult daughter suffered from kidney disease, Cornita saw how many challenges suddenly had to be overcome, and how the situation affected her daughter and young family.

Inspired by these events in 2021, Cornita decided to take time from her career in commercial real estate to create a series of children’s books designed to both teach and comfort children facing difficult situations. Her first book, A New Kidney for Mom, focuses directly on that first-hand experience, explaining the concept of the kidney pairing exchange program and kidney transplant operations in a child-friendly manner. Through the heartwarming story of Penelope and her mom, Cornita gives children answers to potential questions as well as providing
parents with an experienced way to approach difficult conversations.

Medical Tales for Small People is a series of short stories full of imagination and creativity written by American author, Cornita Cole. The stories are fictional, based on real events and real people dealing with medical trauma that affects the lives of children and their loved ones. These books provide education, support and strategies to get through some sensitive times. All books are blessed with a foreword from a medical professor.
