amazing book
It was very difficult to stop listening. Very engaging story and great narrator, great writing.

Ziel verfehlt
Nachdem ich The Terror (Dan Simmons) gelesen hatte, habe ich hier einen ähnlichen Titel erwartet. Wahre Story, mit Horrortwist. Die wahre Geschichte an sich ist schließlich schon sehr dramatisch.
Das Buch fängt auch gut an. Doch die 2. Hälfte ist einfach enttäuschend. (Spoiler). Der böse Deutsche Charakter - das kennen wir schon aus zahlreichen Hollywood-Filmen. Charaktere mit übernatürlichen Fähigkeiten werden erst groß vorgestellt und dann später einfach unter den Tisch gekehrt - big wtf. Was sind die Monster? Hier wurde eindeutig mit der Wendigo-Legende gewunken - raus gekommen ist nichts. Überhaupt wurden weder Monster noch Kannibalismus weiter ausgeführt. Es wird kein zufriedenstellendes Ende gefunden, denn am Höhepunkt wo die Charaktere in höchster Not sind bricht die Story einfach ab und ist vorbei. Man hätte so viel aus dieser Story machen können, stattdessen bekommt man den Eindruck dass sobald die nebensächliche Liebesgeschichte um ist und es ums Eingemachte geht die Autorin plötzlich keine Lust oder keine Zeit mehr hatte und das Ende vollkommen übersprungen wurde.
Wer Horror mag ist hiermit nicht gut beraten. Etwas Atmosphäre, etwas Blut, aber 0 Biss und kaum Zusammenhang.
