simply beautiful
This book is full of wisdom, grace and beauty. The narrator has the most beautiful voice and captures India and the characters in the most amazing way. Simply beautiful.

This is like slow food. The writer takes the time to seduce his reader into this utterly fascinating world.
The story shows the intelligence of women, conveys the grave difference between the rich and the poor and illustrates how the caste system divides the people.
It was lovely to listen to an Indian story read by someone who clearly comes from that culture. A beautiful book!

inspiring and unique
Apart from being written and read amazingly this book has so many deep messages, especially the one that:
sometimes our wishes are not the best for us. My mom always told me "be careful what you wish for, though it might come true". Also on the day two of reading I've already painted my own skin with henna ... beautiful read. Just dive in. I was a little concerned about the story, being an empathic person I take it too personally EVERYTHING and did not want to read about deep misery, pain, abuse etc. NOTHING disturbing to the story. It is beautiful. Simple as that. Deep, interesting, inspiring, heart warming. Of course the protagonist go through an emotional, physical and mental journey, which is not easy, but it is described very eloquent and mildly.

Wonderful story!
I loved the story situated in Jaipur, so colorfully and vividly described. total recommendation! also, the speaker read very clearly.

Told wonderfully
You can smell, feel and see India in this enchanting narration. Merely the younger sister and her behaviour got on my nerves, but I loved the main protagonist.
