Unique storyline
Interesting story. I really liked the speaker’s voice too. It only took me a couple days to finish. It was very easy to listen to, even though the main character is not actually that likeable of a person.

Incredibly good
I couldn’t stop listening and was stunned when I realized how R.F. Kuang manipulated me into rooting for the Anti-Hero. Loved every second of it.

Wow, interessante Story über Vorurteile aller Art
Mir hat das Buch so gut gefallen, wie in den Medien angekündigt. Eine geballte Konfrontation mit dem Prozess des Schreibens und Veröffentlichung von Büchern sow Schubladendenken aus unterschiedlichsten Blickpunkten über Asiaten, die westliche Welt und der Mix aus beidem. Regt zum Nachdenken an und passt m.E. gut in unsere heutige Zeit. Empfehlenswert.

Couldn’t stop listening 🙌🏽
This thought-provoking novel places readers in the shoes of an immensely unlikable character, one who consistently attempts to justify her actions while portraying herself as the victim. Despite this challenging perspective, I found myself unable to put the book down, as it provided a profound and eye-opening glimpse into the inner workings of the publishing industry.
Kuang's portrayal of the main character's relentless self-defense forces readers to confront uncomfortable truths about human nature. It is through the lens of this deeply flawed protagonist that we witness the subtle and not-so-subtle ways in which individuals attempt to shirk responsibility and cast themselves in a favorable light.
