Officer Red Markham knows about the ugly side of life after a car accident left him scarred and his parents dead. His job policing the streets of Carlisle, PA, only adds to the ugliness, and lately, drug overdoses have been on the rise. One afternoon, Red is dispatched to the local Y for a drowning accident involving a child. Arriving on site, he finds the boy rescued by lifeguard Terry Baumgartner. Of course, Red isn't surprised when gorgeous Terry won't give him and his ugly mug the time of day.
Overhearing one of the officer's comments about him being shallow opens Terry's eyes. Maybe he isn't as kindhearted as he always thought. His friend Julie suggests he help those less fortunate by delivering food to the elderly. On his route he meets outspoken Margie, a woman who says what's on her mind. Turns out, she's Officer Red's aunt.
Red and Terry's worlds collide as Red tries to track the source of the drugs and protect Terry from an ex-boyfriend who won't take no for an answer. Together they might discover a chance for more than they expected - if they can see beyond what's on the surface.

Review on "Fire and Water (Carlisle Cops 01)
Würden Sie dieses Hörbuch einem Freund empfehlen? Wenn ja, was würden Sie ihm dazu sagen?
There are no two ways about it, I love Mr Grey's books and how he always creates such sympathic, vibrant MC s ,setting them in his well structured contemporary romance novels and connecting them to his other books (fans like myself recognize references to the „By Fire“, „The Tast of Love“ „Bronco Boys“ series immediately to mention just some). Mr.Grey's latest series sets focus on the local law enforcement team at pittoresque Carlisle/Pennsylvania.
Welcher Moment von Fire and Water ist Ihnen besonders im Gedächtnis geblieben?
Police Officer Red is called to an incident at the public swimming pool where he meets liveguard Terry. Both men are like „Beauty& Beast“ .Red is tall, strong and visible scarred from a traffic accident in his teens . Terry on the other hand has a gorgeous swimmer's figure, good looks and seems all vain and shallow at first. But he also has a rather manipulative ex-boyfriend who terrorizes him. That brings Red into further investigation. At the same time bad drugs are flooding the streets causing many OD s keeping the Carlisle PD busy.
I like Mr.Grey's stories because there isn't much that is totally unpredictable and his MC s are likable and placed in a warm, familiar setting. Still I was a bit irritated with him letting Red&Terry go at it like two hormon overloaden teenagers. I was consoled with their awkwardness and then more slow and realistic getting to know each other afterwards though.
Hat Ihnen Randy Fuller an der Geschichte etwas vermittelt, was Sie vielleicht beim Selberlesen gar nicht bemerkt hätten?
Randy Fuller does a great job narrating this new series. He has a distinct voice for both MC s and all the side characters, narrating with fluency&emphasize . I could listen to his stong voice all day long.
Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?
Clearly the combination of Mr.Grey's writting skills and Mr.Fuller's voice talent is a perfect fit for this new series and I can't wait to hear more! Alongside Red there have been a few fellow officers introduced, so I am curious, who will get his turn in the next book and the chance of finding his love then.
