tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of papua new guinea’s independence. this piece is a love letter to what our country used to be before contact, and a challenge to papua new guineans to do better. please note that this is only an excerpt of a much larger piece that lungol will be performing in person on gadigal land at the @artgalleryofnsw on wednesday 17th september at 6:00pm. entry is free and non-ticketed, so feel free to just show up. lungol’s performance will then be followed by a panel discussion, a yarn about art in papua new guinea, the diasporic experience and Indigenous futures. more information can be found at lungol.com/upcoming-events or via link in bio

happy father's day! this poem is a reflection on my relationship with my father and on fatherhood in general. my dad is not perfect, but i am so proud of how far he has come. here's to healing generational curses and making life better for all of our children.
