  • 98: Beyond the Hype: How to Build a Wellness Brand That Lasts
    Oct 15 2026

A wellness business can get attention overnight—but building a brand that stays relevant for years takes something much deeper than hype. In this episode of Worth Your Salt, Jennifer Orechwa sits down with LEKFIT founder Lauren Kleban to explore how she transformed a garage-based fitness concept into a recognizable, enduring wellness brand. Lauren shares how a clear point of view, consistency, community trust, and the discipline to resist every new trend helped LEKFIT grow without losing what made it distinctive in the first place.

For established med spa owners and wellness entrepreneurs, this conversation is a powerful reminder that sustainable growth isn’t about constantly chasing the newest treatment, platform, or marketing tactic. Jennifer and Lauren dig into founder-led branding, scaling without diluting the client experience, creating signature offerings people associate with your business, and knowing when evolving your brand is smart—and when it’s simply a reaction to what competitors are doing. The result is a practical conversation about building a wellness brand clients continue to trust, choose, and recommend long after the initial buzz wears off.

    What You’ll Learn
    • How to distinguish a lasting wellness brand from a business built primarily on trends, social media buzz, or novelty.
    • Why having a clear brand identity can help med spas decide which services, trends, partnerships, and growth opportunities actually fit.
    • How to scale a founder-led wellness business without losing the trust, experience, and personal connection that made it successful.
    • Why signature services, community, consistency, and customer trust can become stronger competitive advantages than constantly offering the “next big thing.”

  • 97: Beyond Five-Star Reviews: What Actually Makes a Med Spa Trustworthy?
    Oct 1 2026
“If your med spa is safer, better run and more clinically responsible than the one down the street—but the patient can’t tell the difference—does it actually give you a competitive advantage?”

A med spa can have a gorgeous website, thousands of followers and hundreds of five-star reviews—and none of those things tells a prospective patient whether its providers are practicing within scope, its medical director is truly involved, its products came from legitimate sources or its team knows what to do when something goes wrong. As medical aesthetics continues to grow, that creates a trust problem for patients—and a competitive problem for the reputable practices doing things right. Dr. Kate Dee founded The Medspa Board to create an independent standard that makes safety, oversight and compliance more visible to consumers. In this episode of the Worth Your Salt podcast, we explore what med spa patients should actually be looking for, why responsible med spas need to do a better job communicating the standards behind their care, and how clinical excellence can become a powerful differentiator in an increasingly crowded market.

    Going Beyond Google Reviews

Five-star reviews matter. They help prospective patients feel more confident, provide social proof, and give people a glimpse into the experience they can expect from your practice. But reviews only tell part of the story. They can’t necessarily tell a patient whether a provider is practicing within scope, whether a medical director is actively involved, where injectable products came from, or whether the practice is prepared to handle a complication.

In this episode of Worth Your Salt, Jennifer Orechwa sits down with Dr. Kate Dee, founder and CEO of The Medspa Board, to explore the difference between a med spa that looks trustworthy and one that has actually built trustworthiness into the way it operates. They discuss the standards patients rarely see—from medical oversight and provider credentials to product sourcing, emergency preparedness, and responsible clinical care—and why those behind-the-scenes details matter more than ever in a rapidly growing aesthetics industry.

The conversation also tackles an important marketing challenge for reputable med spa owners: How do you make clinical excellence visible to prospective patients? Dr. Dee and Jennifer explore the trust signals med spas can build throughout the customer journey, how to educate patients about safety without creating fear, and why practices that invest in doing things right need to communicate the value behind those investments. Because great reviews can tell people that patients love you—but strong marketing should also help them understand why your practice is worthy of their trust.

    What You’ll Learn
    • The difference between perceived trust and actual trustworthiness—and why a polished website, strong social presence, and five-star reviews don’t tell the whole story.
    • What responsible medical aesthetics practices have happening behind the scenes, including appropriate medical oversight, provider scope, product sourcing, patient evaluation, and emergency preparedness.
    • Which trust signals med spas should make visible throughout their website and patient journey so prospective patients can understand what sets the practice apart.
    • How to communicate safety, standards, and clinical excellence without scaring patients or sounding like a compliance manual—and use those strengths to support stronger positioning and value.

  • Med Spa Client Retention
    Sep 17 2026
Med Spa Client Retention: How to Turn the Client Journey Into Predictable Revenue What if your med spa does not actually need more leads? It sounds strange coming from a marketing agency. Yet you can spend more on ads, SEO, social media, events, and promotions while interested prospects fail to book, booked clients no-show, or happy patients leave without a plan to return. In that case, you are pouring more people into a system that already leaks revenue. That is the problem Jennifer Orechwa explores with Melanie Hull, Sales Manager for Med Spas at Millennium Systems International, the makers of Meevo, in this episode of Worth Your Salt. Rather than treating med spa client retention as a stand-alone marketing tactic, they look at the entire med spa client journey—from the first inquiry through booking, treatment, rebooking, and long-term loyalty. The big idea is simple: predictable revenue comes from designing what happens after someone raises their hand instead of leaving each step to chance. Why More Leads May Not Solve Your Med Spa Growth Problem Melanie began her career as a cosmetologist, moved into spa management, and later entered beauty-industry software. Today, she talks with med spa owners about operational friction and where money walks out the door. According to Melanie, some of the biggest revenue leaks are not glamorous. An inquiry arrives after hours and nobody responds. A prospective client has to call during business hours to book. Another person encounters a long intake process before they can even secure an appointment. Meanwhile, the practice assumes the answer is simply to generate more demand. Instead, Melanie recommends treating the first interaction as a sales moment rather than an administrative task. Speed to first response matters. So does having one clear process that every team member follows. In a well-designed med spa client journey, the practice knows what should happen at five minutes, one day, seven days, 30 days, and beyond. That same idea fits the customer-journey approach we use at Salt Marketing: getting found matters, but visibility only creates value when the next step feels clear and easy. Reduce Friction Between Inquiry and Booking Convenience is not a minor feature anymore. Your clients may remember at 9 p.m. that they want to schedule Botox, a facial, or another service. If booking requires them to wait until morning, call the front desk, or complete an unnecessarily complicated process, they may simply move on. That is why your med spa software should do more than display an appointment calendar. Online booking should make it easy for a client to explore services and availability while still protecting the practice with appropriate rules, prerequisites, deposits, or cards on file. Melanie also makes an important distinction: online booking does not need to be an all-or-nothing decision. A practice can build safeguards around first-time consultations, provider eligibility, service restrictions, deposits, or other requirements. Meevo’s current online booking tools, for example, include configurable service prerequisites, deposit options, and client self-service for booking, rebooking, rescheduling, and cancellation. The goal is to remove unnecessary friction while keeping the rules that protect your team, schedule, and client experience. What Should Happen Automatically After a Client Books? Booking is not the finish line. Once the appointment reaches the calendar, your systems should start working within seconds. Melanie recommends an immediate confirmation that verifies the service, provider, date, time, and location. Next, the client should receive mobile-friendly intake or consent forms, relevant pre-visit instructions, reminders, and a clear way to confirm or reschedule. If a form remains incomplete, the system should follow up rather than relying on a front-desk employee to remember. This is where automation can support med spa client retention without making the experience feel robotic. As Melanie puts it, the goal is not to remove the human element. The goal is to give the humans in the practice more time to be human. That distinction matters with no-shows, too. Melanie describes no-shows largely as a communication-design problem rather than a character flaw. Clear expectations, appropriate deposits, timely reminders, and an easy rescheduling path can protect the schedule. Even making cancellation easier can help, because knowing about an opening 72 hours ahead gives you more opportunity to fill it than learning about it five hours before treatment. Modern med spa software can also help a team act on cancellations faster. Rather than keeping a waitlist on a sticky note, the system can help identify eligible clients for an open appointment and communicate with them quickly. That turns unused inventory into a recoverable opportunity instead of a scramble at the front desk. The Highest-Leverage 90 Seconds: Rebook Before They Leave One of Melanie’s ...
